HHSAA Division II GIRLS BASKETBALL: Hawaii Prep defeats Hanalani in first-round action

Chancis Fernandez scored 14 of her 20 points in the second half and Ka Makani outscored the Royals 31-10 over the final 10 minutes.

Hanalani, which trailed by 10 in the first period, took its first lead at 24-22 with 3:20 left in the third on a basket by Nicole Gonzalez of an assist from Kira Oyama.
The Royals took their final lead at 26-24, then Ka Makani blew it open.
Hawaii Prep’s Fernandez scored the first eight points of the rally, including two 3-point plays. Katie Ho added seven points during the surge.

Tiana Tabac added 10 points and Ho scored all nine of her points in the second half for Hawaii Prep. Lana Queen had nine rebounds, and Leahi Lindsey added six rebounds, five steals and three assists.
Hanalani’s Gonzalez scored 13 points, Sarah Liva added six rebounds and four blocks, and Sarah Hyde had six rebounds.
