In the 2009 cross country championships held at the Island school, Kamehameha-Kapalama boys team came in first with 56 points. For girls, Punahou team took the title with 62 points. Margarito Martinez of Leilehua was crowned for individual boys winner and Elli Brady of Punahou claimed girls individual championship.
