Kahuku 2, Waimea 1 (20-25, 25-23, 16-14)

Shairone Thompson had 17 kills, including eight in the third set, as the Red Raiders (13-6) beat the Menehunes (9-6).

Waimea got off to a 4-1 advantage in the third set before Kahuku rallied to take a 12-11 lead. The Menehunes scored the next three to get to match point. But a pair of kills by Thompson tied it at 14-14. Kahuku scored the next two points on an ace by Quayd Ah You and a Waimea hitting error. Thompson also had two blocks in the third.

Joaquin Lessary added 12 kills for Kahuku, and Ah You had 27 assists.

In the first set, Waimea took a quick 9-1 advantage with Kahuku getting as close as four. Kevin Killerman and Mark Kanahele both had four kills for the Menehunes in the set.

In the second set, Waimea went on a 16-5 run to take a 20-15 lead. Kahuku rallied to score the next six points to take a 21-20 lead. The set was tied at 23-23 before a kill by Joaquin Lessary and a Waimea hitting error won it for the Red Raiders. Lessary had six kills in the set.

Killerman had nine kills to lead Waimea.
